Nathan Mandra
Basic History: The blood of historical vampires slayers flows throughout Nathan's veins. Raised in a small village south of Rionia, he grew up barely knowing his father, William Mandra. A famous vampire slayer on the continent of Auraton, William rarely spent time with his beloved wife and son, burdened with the task of eradicating vampire threats from his homeland. Even without having his father around, Nathan respected the man and what he did for a living.
One dark day, when Nathan was the age of fourteen, William left his wife and son to fulfill a campaign against an ancient vampire whom their family had vowed to destroy hundreds of years ago. The vampire was known as Baron Philati. Weeks passed before William returned home, but no longer was he the man that he once was. Cursed by the Baron to live eternity as the very creatures he hunted, William had lost all humanity, and as a result attacked his son and murdered his wife. While William fed upon his wife, Nathan managed to lay claim to the enchanted sword that had hung from his father's side. With Holy Crusher in his hands, Nathan drove the blade straight through his William's heart, turning the cursed man instantly into ash and forever freeing him from the curse Baron Philati had placed upon him.
Left without any family, Nathan buried his mother's body and burned his home to the ground. It was there, as he watched the crimson flames lick at the midnight sky that he vowed to hunt down every single vampire until he found and killed the one responsible for converting his father. Nathan then set off into the unknown in pursuit of Baron Philati.
For many years after Nathan continued his hunt for the vampire Baron. During this time, he gained a reputation for being amongst the best of vampire slayers, due to the numerous amounts of vampires and undead he had destroyed. He not only made enemies with the undead though, but with those of his own kind as well. Morgan Aryndell being on the top of his “most hated people" list. The reasons for this many do not know why, other than that their personalities completely clash with one another, and they usually tend to argue or beat each other up whenever they meet.
Eventually Nathan did discover where Philati lived, and challenged the vampire. That proved to be a near fatal error on Nathan's part, for instead of meeting Philati, the Baron sent his minions to greet him. Caught by surprise, Nathan received several injuries and was left for dead.
Nathan surely would have died were it not for a local farmer who had found him unconscious. The farmer went by the name of Belton Undet. Bringing the wounded vampire slayer into his home, he and his family treated Nathan's wounds. When Nathan awoke, the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes upon greeted him: Illenei, the daughter of Belton.
For several months he stayed at Belton's household until he had fully recovered. Though Nathan had been quite a handful for Belton and his family to deal with at first, they all surprisingly got along quite well. Having grown up never really knowing his father, and losing both parents when he was only fourteen, Nathan found the peaceful and loving lifestyle that Belton and his family had to be surreal. In the end, he began wanting such a life for himself, and intended on asking Illenei for her hand in marriage.
Fate had something else in store for Nathan. Baron Philati discovered that Nathan was still alive. Angered that his minions had failed to destroy the vampire slayer, he personally sought out Nathan. That very night was the night that Nathan asked Illenei to marry him. The Baron had arrived just as Nathan had done so, and as a means to torment his enemy, kidnapped Illenei.
Nathan, fueled purely by anger, gathered his gear and took hold of Holy Crusher once more, and ignored the desperate shouts and pleas that came from Belton and his family as he set off towards Baron Philati's mansion. Greeted by the Baron's minions once more, the outcome turned out to be the opposite of the last encounter. Nathan tore through each one, taking pleasure in watching them die. Storming through the mansion at a pace the Baron had not expected, the vampire soon met his end by the hands of Mandra.
Unfortunately, Baron Philati and his minions were not the only ones to lose their lives that night. Illenei too, was dead. Before Nathan was able to reach the Baron's chambers, the vampire drained her dry of all blood. It was there at the mansion, clinging onto the lifeless body of Illenei within his arms that Nathan made a new vow...a vow to destroy every single vampire that existed so that no others would have to suffer the same fate as she.
