Chandrakanta
.:Basic Information:.
Name: Jo
Character Name:Chandrakanta
Alias/Nickname: Most people know her as Chandrakanta, her very few
friends call her Chandra, and only the people who have hired her know
her as "The Black Lily".
Race: Hudrake. Mother, Athdraki Father, Meldoran
True Age: 60
Apparent Age: Twenties
Sex: Female
Height: 5'9
Weight: 180
Hair Color/Style: Thanks to her Athdraki blood, her hair isn't really
so much black as it is the color of volcanic sand. Her hair glitters
like gems rather than shines. She keeps it waist length, but only so
that she can put it into elaborate braids. Her hair is never without a
large decorative comb made of some precious material to keep it together.
Eyes: Chandrakanta inherited her mother's fierce unusual eyes. They
are more platinum than silver colored, and distinctly almond.
Marks/Scars/Tattoos: She has a breathtaking tattoo; a string of black
lilies and violet ivy start at her left thigh and continues all the
way to bloom on the back of her neck. Also, her nose and ears are pierced.
Physical Appearance: Athdraki blood runs deep in her veins, but
luckily since Hudrake are rare not many people suspect this. Those who
do question her appearance, learn not to. The normal unsuspecting
human would see Chandra as stately, beautiful and oddly exotic. She is
certainly not human, but nothing about her reminds common folks of her
true parentage. To the trained eye however, her platinum eyes and
shifting black hair are her giveaways. Due to the strength of her
Athdraki genes, one of the only things she inherited from her father
was his skin color which is the color of burnished gold. Chandrakanta
keeps herself in top form favoring curves and toned strength over
being slender and soft. She always strives to present a picture of
cool, refined, elegant opulence.
Occupation/Class: Summoner/Courtesan, Former Assassin
.:Secondary Information:.
Philosophy: "The way through a man's heart is better achieved with a
dagger than a sweetmeat."/"Weakness is not acceptable…"
Magite: Spirit, Dark, Light and Water
Carried Possessions: Chandrakanta is never seen without her elaborate
hair combs and thigh daggers. No matter how elaborate a dress, she
carries both of them. Most of the times she also wears a necklace with
a half moon pendant made from a shell, a parting gift from her father.
Also carried on her are her Summoning Magite. She never lets them out
of her sight.
Clothing and Armor: Chandra wears no armor, but she does own a pair of
bracers which she only wears when she thinks she can be in danger.
Unlike other courtesans she prefers simple yet stunning garments in
rich fabrics. She is most known for her fitted embroidered bodices and
slick long skirts.
Weapons: Chandrakanta carries a set of thigh daggers embedded with
glittering Magite stones, a gift from her Foster Father. Each dagger
has the imprint of a black lily wound in violet ivy. She also has
throwing daggers, but these are unremarkable.
Summons- (In the order she summoned them)
1. Weak Summon: Light Spirit "Arima" Good Aligned. Oath: Never to Kill
Human Children. Sacrifice: Childhood Pet. (essentially her only friend)
2. Strong Summon- Dark Spirit "Muhja." Neutral Aligned. Oath: To Mark
her Body for every soul she takes. (The elaborate lily tattoo is how
she makes good on her oath. This is also a rather big deal considering
the pain of tattooing in great detail, and the recognition it could
bring.) Sacrifice: 20 years off her life.
3. Medium Summon: Spirit Spirit "Tasmi" Neutral Aligned. Oath: Never
to kill her human family. Sacrifice: Teeth.
4. Weak Summon- Dark Spirit "Ker" Evil Aligned. Oath: To make her
kills painful rather than peaceful. Sacrifice: A bowl of blood from
the only man she has ever loved.
.:Personal Information:.
Likes: Currency of all types, sparkling jewels, rich fabrics, power,
lively music, decadence, exotic flowers, song birds, stringed
instruments and oddly enough…children
Dislikes: Demons who frown upon her heritage, most males, "goody
goody" women, people who underestimate women and anyone who hurts children
Merits: Tenacious, Intelligent, Strong willed, and though it is
deeply hidden beneath a callous veneer, she is compassionate
Flaws: Ambitious, seductive minx, can be colder than ice, nearly
remorseless and highly manipulative, has lots of Father issues
Worst Fear: That her foster father will find her and force her to return.
Personality: After being an Athdraki punching bag for her formative
years, Chandrakanta learned that showing her human emotions (weakness)
was only going to bring more pain. Instead she learned that everything
must be strongly under control. She does not inherently hate humans,
but she has a well masked dislike, even though human nobles are her
main clients. As an assassin, she developed the fine art of forcing
oneself to be remorseless, though this does not always work. While
working as a Courtesan she seemingly lets down her cool exterior to
show a warm seductive creature, that she plays off as her real
personality. Underneath all of her many facades, the real Chandrakanta
will always be a fiercely ambitious woman who deeply desires
acceptance and to escape her tainted blood…whether that is human or
Athdraki, she is never quite sure of.
History:
A rarity… A gem… A mistake… Chandrakanta has been called all three.
When a small demon party loyal to the Empire raided a Meldoran
village near the coast of Auraton, they enslaved most of its
inhabitants. Born during Firedawn, Chandrakanta was more than a
surprise. Her mother was a Noble Athdraki Summoner (Asun) and her
father was one of the Meldoran captives (Davin).
Asun was a stern and ambitious woman who wanted nothing more than to
see her people safe in the new a thriving world. Davin was just
training to be a hunter, desperate to protect his tribe from the
demons. Unfortunately, nothing could stop the attack that came in the
middle of the night. Those villagers unwilling to come of their own
volition who were not murdered where they stood.
Davin was a gift, a present to a dutiful daughter among the ranks.
Understandably they hated each other. Asun considered using him as a
sacrifice, but changed her mind when his intelligence showed him to be
a capable assistant. Their relationship was a strange one. Despite
their mutual hate, to both of their shame, they did harbor a physical
and mental attraction to each other. Their resulting trysts resulted
in Asun being horrified to find she was with child.
Ostracized and quickly falling out of favor she saw her only option in
marrying an Athdraki noble known as Serkhan. A fierce and loyal
assassin, he regarded the child as a mistake that they could
eventually turn into an advantage.
Chandra grew up jeered at and abused by her mother's people. Asun did
not protect her, but instead taught her the art of Summoning as a
backwards way of caring for the girl. Her foster father however, had
other career plans for her.
When Chandra reached puberty, Serkhan gave her a cruel ultimatum:
serve as his assassin among humans or kill a human child with her own
hand. Chandrakanta wavered, although she was trained to believe that
humans were lowest of all beings, she was often reminded by the
Athdraki that her true father was a human. Her heart strong, though
not yet hardened, pledged her loyalty to the Athdraki and served as an
assassin rather than murder the child.
Chandrakanta served the Athdraki well, even if they did not know it.
She wanted nothing more than her parents praise, and she truly
believed that one day her tireless service would earn her a place
among the only people she had even known. Chandra continued to do her
duty until she was forced to kill her human father, who had become a
successful Demon Hunter. Too late to understand and unable to save
him, he died in her arms.
Bitter and hurt, she knew that she would only spend her life as a pawn
for Serkhan. After discovering Serkhan took the credit for all of her
kills, Chandrakanta snuck away, and since then she has lived in
Sundaran and has made a successful living as Courtesan. Few recognize
or know her, but that is only because she was good at what she did.
