Fayette
Player: Mindy G
Character Name: Fayette Lauréntine
Alias/Nickname: ‘Fay'
Race: Enlightened
Age/Date of Birth: 18, 3101 ADW
Apparent Age: 16-19
Sex: Female
Height: 5'6ft
Weight: 123lbs
Hair Color/Style: Her hair is a soft and pale shade of blue which seems to shift in the light from hues of aquamarine and cerulean to almost pearl. Long and fine, the fall of its length reaches to her hips and seems to flutter in wake of her movement like a silk veil. Long bangs frame her features, draping across the front of her shoulders to the bust and are parted over the right eye.
Eyes: Fayette's eyes are a myriad, most noticeably a vibrant summer blue in colour, however fine flecks of mauve speckle the iris, which is ringed with deep cobalt at its edge. They always seem to be bright and shine with a mysterious inner light all of their own.
Marks/Scars/Tattoos: N/A
Physical Appearance: Fayette is neither tall nor particularly muscular. Possessing a petite frame she can appear frail as porcelain at times, however a gentle definition in her upper arms betrays the wiry strength of an archer in her body. Her narrow hips and small bust emphasise her slenderness. With delicate features set into a long face, alabaster skin and striking eyes she seems to give off an air of tranquillity and ethereal grace. Her voice is soft and a gentle mezzo-soprano in tone, poised and quiet.
Occupation/Class: Paladin/Noble
Magic/Magite: Holy and Spirit
Carried Possessions:Fayette wears a silver ring on the index finger of her right hand: crafted with a thin band and displaying a knot design holding the chip of a sapphire gem in its weave. The ring belonged to her mother. It is often covered by her gloves. When travelling she will wear a satchel of white silk carried on a long shoulder strap, large enough to carry essentials such as a folded cloak, money purse and other small items.

Clothing and Armor: Fayette wears a long dress of white satin on the left side of her body, the fall of the gown consisting of three layers of fabric which are intricately frilled with a flower relief along the hems, falling inches from the ground when wearing her heels. A large section of similar white satin is gathered at the top of the dress on her hip, accented with baby blue ribbon. The upper portion of her clothing consists of an embroidered bodice of the same material which hugs her waist and torso neatly. She wears a pair of light mauve, boy-leg pants trimmed with lace beneath her half-dress and pearly, thigh-high stockings embroidered at the hems. Matching gloves cover her arms to the bicep.

Over this costume Fayette uses only minor armour of an elegant, symmetrical design. Made up of curling lines and flower-like buds, the theme is carried throughout the panoply. A gorget covers her collarbone and shoulders. An arm-band covers the left bicep only, vambraces on both forearms and a half-breastplate ending beneath the bust. Ornamental pieces sit upon her hips and a silver chain connects these, hanging with a small, decorative fleur pendant to mid-thigh.

The lower portion of her legs-- the knees and shins-- are covered with fleur-esque guards and filigreed greaves cut-out at the sides of the calves, continuing down into decorative attachments on the top of the foot, fitting over her white leather ankle boots. These attachments also form the silver high-heels supporting the footwear. The entirety of the armour ensemble is made of silver-washed steel.

When travelling, Fayette will usually wear a long, cream cloak possessing a deep cowl, trimmed with white embroidery over her armour and clothing.

Weapons: Celestine Guardian: The weapon passed from her mother, also an archer, is a longbow crafted of the same silver-washed steel as her armour and fashioned of a highly ornamental theme to match its design. Measuring just over 43” long from tip to tip of its winged design at the end of the limbs, it is made up of a scrolling, vine-like crafting. The bow features large Holy and Spirit magite stones set into curling tendrils either side of the grip.

Fayette uses no physical arrows, therefore requires no quiver and while the Guardian can launch conventional arrows in the same manner as a normal bow, she utilizes the magite set into the weapon to form arrows of Holy or Spiritual magic as required. These arrows pierce and impact as a physical projectile and are subject to the same deflection, appearing solid. They also carry the same properties as the magic which forms them, dealing particular damage to undead creatures in the case of Holy.

The Magite can still be accessed manually simply by holding the bow and occasionally Fayette will use the Guardian similar to a double-ended sceptre if necessary.

Likes: The season Lionsdawn, white roses, most, if not all, animals, polite people, good manners, using reason before violence and temple gardens.
Dislikes: Cold seasons, unnatural creatures, necromancy and undead, aggression or rudeness and alcohol.
Merits: Patient and forgiving, very accurate archer, appears unthreatening, some knowledge of Holy healing and wise beyond her years, always thinks before acting.
Flaws: A rather sheltered upbringing, too trusting, can be naïve, no hand-to-hand combat ability, hesitates, can be too passive.
Worst Fear: Losing her father- No one is closer to Fayette then her father and he is the only relative she has left. She sees him as her only link to knowing her mother and through him she feels connected to her still by his stories and memories. The death of Bishop Joachim Lauréntine would devastate Fayette.

Personality:   Fayette is a pleasant, noble and kind hearted young woman whose poise and grace often lead others to believe she is older then her actual age.

She tries to remain calm and be wise, modelling her demeanour on her father's. She has great compassion and patience for others, often trying to understand negative reactions before condemning them. Her empathy is not boundless however and if she is pushed consistently beyond her vast limit she can make even a demon check their humility. She is a pacifist, trying to talk over problems before choosing to fight and will only take up her bow as an absolute last resort.

Affectionate and comforting to those she cares for she would do anything for them, even give up her own life. Often a shoulder to cry upon, she will listen to the problems of others without complaint and offer solace or advice if she is able. This can weigh heavily upon her, though she tries her hardest not to let it show and sometimes carrying the problems of others on her shoulders can be a dark burden for the girl. She will often adopt the voice of the optimist, even though she worries for her friends and family constantly.

History:   When the mortally wounded Celestial stumbled through the doors of Evithanon's Temple in Ambrose all those years ago, the then priestly acolyte, Joachim Lauréntine did not truly understand anything about the fall of Moon Spire or the scattering of the Isradian race to the four corners of the earth via the portal of their escape. The only thing the young man knew for certain was the creature who fell into his arms was the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes upon...

The Celestial was a Paladin named Sephira and she was dying from a cursed spear which had been thrust through her body by a Dark Cleric in fierce battle. A survivor of the attack upon Moon Spire, she had dedicated her time in Calamia as a demon hunter in an effort to cleanse what she could of the evil from the world. However on this night the paladin had gravely misjudged her foe and it looked as if it might cost the holy woman her life.

By a small miracle, Sephira pulled through her unnatural wound with the prayers and diligent magic of the elder clerics, and in the days after the young Joachim never left her bedside. Fascinated by the radiant woman he asked her many questions of her long existence and her people, offering stories of his humble upbringing in return. By the time Sephira could leave her bed the two had developed a bond.

That bond soon turned to love in the years after, as Sephira stayed at the temple to protect its clergy from defilers and became one of its guardians. Her light had dimmed and she was frail, likely never to fully recover, yet she argued that she wanted to return the temple's kindness for saving her life. Joachim was still progressing in his training to become a Bishop, yet he could not shake his feelings for the other-worldly archer. It caused a quiet scandal among the temple when the two became lovers and earned Joachim disapproval when he later abandoned his vows to marry the Celestial. Both knew that it was likely Sephira would outlive the human man, yet they were content to enjoy what time they could have together.

Sephira soon fell with Joachim's child, a completely unexpected yet welcomed surprise, but the pregnancy was draining upon the weakened Celestial. Day by day Joachim fretted, seeing her radiance grow paler and paler, but Sephira assured him she felt fine and would not let her ailing show.

When the labour came it was difficult and long: Sephira's life left her even her baby girl came into the world and although Joachim's heart was breaking, he took his daughter in his arms and promised she would not grow up oblivious to her heritage or her heavenly mother...

An Enlightened child, the girl's resemblance to Sephira was uncanny, for she possessed the same pale blue hair and crystalline eyes, even her pale skin was a haunting echo of her parent's glowing white pallor. She was to become her father's most precious possession and he named her ‘Fayette'...

To ease the pain of his loss, an older Joachim returned to his studies to complete his career as a Bishop, but he did not neglect Fayette. Whenever he had a moment to spare he would speak to her of his trainings, of the gods and taught her the pure and compassionate way to live. He instilled in her the best of virtues and did the best he could to warn Fayette of the dangers in the world around her, praying she would not become a victim of war as her mother had been.

When one of the young soldier's at the town's barracks offered to give the inquisitive girl he often saw sitting on the fence of the practice range a lesson with his bow, young Fayette curiously accepted. The lieutenant said she had amazing natural ability and joked that she should join the military. The idea of protecting others immediately appealed to the little girl, who thought for a long, silent moment and then said ‘can I join now?', much to the amusement of the soldiers. She was disappointed when the lieutenant told her he had only been joking and that she was still far too young to enlist.

Fayette spoke to Joachim soon after and told him of what had happened at the archery range. She wanted to protect people, like her mother had, she told him and she felt distressed the longer she waited. Fayette wanted a purpose desperately and could not be swayed by her uncertain father who feared for her on this new path of danger.

Fayette entered into training as a Paladin under one of the temple guardians as soon as she was old enough at the age of ten, choosing of course archery as her weapon. Her mentor was strict on her, but often he would congratulate Fayette on her quick study and the rate at which she progressed.

Fayette remained in Ambrose and the Temple of Evithanon, learning the skills with both a bow and magite that she would need to harness the power to help people who needed her. She constantly assured her father that it was her destiny and she believed those words with unwavering faith. For long and hard years she learnt, until Fayette's mentor told her, at the age of seventeen, she was ready to go out into the world as a paladin and fulfil her dream.

Kissing her father goodbye she promised him she would return often to visit him and would write to him whenever she had the chance. Before she left the temple, Joachim the Bishop gifted her with very special pieces of equipment- Sephira's armour and bow. Moved by the gesture and now feeling closer to her mother then ever before, Fayette left Ambrose to seek her destiny.

Fayette has wandered for the past year, doing what she can for those people she comes across, be it slaying a demon or simply listening to their problems and giving comfort or ryn if she can. However, having never completed a large campaign or a legendary deed she is not notorious enough to be widely known yet but such a humble reputation is fine for the young paladin for now...
