After the Perdition many of the vampires retreated from Jeremas’s war, and went into hiding. But a few remained, including Desmond Al’Damoreth. He was the first to discover that true vampires could procreate with humans, making a half blood. So began the experimenting with half breeds, taking human women from their realm whenever possible, using them as nothing more than incubators.
Vivien was the second half breed born in Israidius. She was a beautiful child, taking after her mother in appearance. Her father never showed any real form of interest in his half-breed offspring other than their abilities and progress into vampirism. Vivien never knew her mother because she was killed a few years after her birth. Growing up in Israidius Vivien was sheltered during her childhood, schooled strictly, with only her brother Lance as her closest companion.
Vivien had never been allowed to leave the compound, being confined to her quarters. When she reached adulthood her father began to visit her again. Yet he only wished to use Vivien. For years she was treated this way, locked away and forgotten, only to be taken out when of use, as a weapon for her father's dark deeds. He would take her to Calamia and use her like a pawn, to find and weed out the remnants of the human resistance during the day light hours. She didn't have any choice, her consciousness was pushed aside as her father took control of her body… she was a slave, a puppet... a tool. Vivien watched helplessly from her own eyes as humans were slaughtered by the thousands because of her.
The vampire side of her reveled in the bloodshed, while her very human heart and soul tore her apart. The guilt and pain was immeasurable.
When Jeremas was defeated by the Calamian’s the vampires had no need for the majority of the half-bloods. Many were surpassing maturity and becoming harder to control. So the remainder of the vampire council planned to stop any further half blood creation. They intended to keep only the weak minded half-vampires as slaves, given that many, including Vivien, were of an exotic appearance. The rest were to be discarded… disposed of, as if they were nothing more than garbage.
Lance learned of the vampires treachery and led a full out revolt. They managed to cause a great deal of damage to the vampire city before fleeing out into the Sanctuary. From several years after their revolt the half-bloods would continue their fight for existence. This time would be known as the Half-Blood War.
When Gornaz came to power he came to the vampires in hopes of an alliance, but was cruelly rejected. Lance saw this as an opportunity and went to Gornaz, allying the Half-Bloods with the Athdraki Emperor. Vivien was given stay in the castle with Lance, and they remained there for some time aiding Gornaz in his pursuit to unite the Israidian races. Yet when it came to the vampires, Lance adamantly voiced his objections.
However Gornaz wished to unite all of Israidius, which included the vampires. The vampires finally pledged their alliance to the empire, and Gornaz accepted, much to the half-blood’s dismay. The day they entered the castle tensions could be felt, and the vampires already openly insulted the half-bloods. The last straw was broken when their father was appointed one of Gornaz’s generals.
Lance and Vivien both knew that their kind would suffer once again with the vampires lording over them. They couldn’t risk it, and with Gornaz unwilling to listen they had little option. They agreed to abandon the Valdharian Empire. Gornaz somehow learned of their intentions, capturing the half-bloods before they managed to escape the compound, and imprisoned them.
That is where she and her brother met the silent one, whom Lance dubbed Xeno, meaning ‘silent’ in Israidian. The man would be a decent size, tall and finely cut, if it weren’t for his apparent malnutrition. His flesh was pale and scarred, his head shaved clean and the glimpses of his scarred face and flesh obviously marked him for years of abuse. Vivien felt for him, being treated this way. It took some time, but eventually Xeno began to talk to them. He never, however, said why he was there. Lance and Vivien grew to care for Xeno as if he were family; he was apparently as much an outcast as they.
One day a strange being came to them, swathed in darkness, like a nightmare manifested. It told them to flee Israidius and go to the realm of Calamia. Opening their cell it freed the trio and then vanished. They made it out of the dungeons and miraculously managed to avoid any confrontations. The group raided the armory, Lance finding his portal gem and prior belongings there, Vivien taking a rapier and Xeno donning his infamous dark cloak and sword. Then they stole out into the Sanctuary, traveling as fast as they could on foot.
Yet instead of heeding the Shade’s instructions Lance opted to stay and help the other half bloods, and Vivien refused to leave him as did Xeno. Gornaz learned of their escape and was enraged, so he began to actively pursue the fugitives.
However the half bloods hideaway was discovered by a regiment of the Valdharian Army. When they realized they were trapped Lance used the portal gem, opening a gateway to Calamia. When Gornaz appeared before them Lance shoved his crystal necklace into Vivien’s hands and told Xeno to care of his sister. Vivien refused to leave him, yet Xeno grabbed her and forced her through the gateway. She didn’t have to see Lance die to know he was gone… she felt it, as if a part of her soul died along with him.
Emerging into Calamia Vivien cried out her sorrow, with Xeno holding her firmly as she sobbed and screamed. Even though she couldn't see his face within the darkness of the cloak he now wore, she knew he was hurting too.
Xeno and Vivien traveled together for many years, learning about this new world together. After a time, however, they parted ways. She knew they both had common goals, and it would only be a matter of time before those goals brought their paths together again.
Vivien traveled the world, seen many sights, and learned a great deal about the human culture. They weren’t as her kind thought of them, and it gave her insight on her own humanity.Vivien had taken up residence in Calora in recent years. It is here she saved and met the priestess Arina. Arina’s life was cut short when a true vampire named Macintius attacked her home and killed Arina. Vivien fought with the vampire, and nearly lost, but managed to save her own life by burning down her own home. She managed to take Arina’s body from the home before it burned to the ground.
Feeling such immense guilt Vivien parted the city for a time, her whereabouts during this period being unknown. After a time she returned to Calora, where she met Shawn after her visit with Dorian. She helped free the young man from a servants bond.
Recently she visited the castle smithy to have repair work done to her rapier. Vivien learned of Dorian’s unfortunate abduction from the city’s head blacksmith Doignar.
Dorian was an integral figure head for Calora, but not only that… her dear departed friend Arina had loved him. Apparently there was more to his abduction than met the eye. Doignar said that the report stated a portal had been used, and that clue spoke volumes. The Israidians were somehow involved. So she made preparations and set out to catch up with the rescue party that was heading to Shanar as quickly as possible.
