Bad Dreams

Post by Keith Jones, Feburary 2004

Reio, fixing through his bandages is caught a bit off guard as Grace actually takes consideration to his attempt to help her feel better, his head tilting to the side a bit, his hands over his face but a bit of dusky...pleasantly shaded tanned skin, immaculant in appearance as well as a silky, silvery blue strand of hair can be seen as he blinks a bit innocently, his wraps still on, yet not completely...parts of his face and hands are actually revealed right now...the complex series of wrappings half done, half un-done as he is caught off guard by Grace's reaction, a hand timidly coming up to gently rub the side of his face, not completely turned to the side now nor hidden by his cloak as he holds his somewhat awkward position before flopping rather gently to the floor.

Forgetting about the tattered, somewhat tangled cloths on his face and the leather wrappings which are also a bit strewn out about him, Reiokyu slowly but surely turns towards Grace as he sees her drink of the canteen of the water...the container being slightly big...but good enough to hold a bit of water...albeit it would appear a bit heavy for its size due to the way it was constructed to hold as much water as it could in the space provided. His head returning to a normal position, the boy gazes about the room with a fell swoop, only to find that he had his staff on his back the entire time, hidden convienantly under his cloaks. Twisting his body a bit, his cloaks are a bit undone..if not completely so as well, revealing the dark garb underneath and the pair of somewhat bleached from the sun leather breeches...good and durable in their making...somewhat big and baggy to allow for movement however, his slim, well kept body twisting, yet in a manner so that his cut on his shoulder is still not revealed as he unhinges his staff and lets it fall to the ground softly, his hand quickly scooping under it to collect it and place it gently at his side.

Turning back to face Grace, the shadows of the boy's frame and even the shape of his face, darkened by shadow can barely be seen within the lighting of the room, the boy's mind seeming to slip from him from a moment, his paranoid nature dropped...his mind focused on the reason why Grace seemed so happy after a gift, the closest conclusion coming to the parallel reason animals were happy when he gave them something they may need...like a nut to a squirrel...a fruit to a bird...water to a dehydrated horse in the fields...heading towards the next stream in the summer months. Was it the same? Reio thought to himself as he sat, pondering, oblivious to everything around him for a moment before resuming his neutral position, taking a few steps away from the wall yet keeping a bit in the shadows, his face more visible in the darkened light now...his mask somewhat hanging off of his face rather than being snugly secure to it...small strips of skin can be seen over his hands where the leather does not quite cover, especially in the joints and the bridge to his wrist can be seen as well, revealing more of his natural skin tone. A light burning sensation spreading oddly through his cheeks as Grace utters the words, "Thank you." The child not quite knowing what the words mean, yet her expression says enough to cause his state of defenselessness to continue as he staggers in his confusion to connect the pieces that are a social structure. Gently he tries to offer a smile in return, his mouth however hidden by the wrappings over it, however his face seems to warm with this gesture, his eyes becoming incredibly soft and warm if they were to beheld for a moment as he smiles, his whole body seeming to follow the gesture, relaxing, slight slump at the shoulders, his head slightly tilted and his eyes closed ever so slightly before a bit more of the burning sensation speads through his cheek...a slight blush of embarassment before he falls quiet and neutral once more, his timid nature grasping him almost like the unescapable pull of gravity.
