Gheildoa

Since the times of the War of Daishevar the records of mankind report numerous encounters with a strange demonic species known as the Gheildoa. The people of Calamia know little about this unique demonic race aside from the fact that they are amongst the most commonly encountered of demonic races. Those of Calamia who have laid eyes upon a Gheildoa have said them to be a grotesque blend of man and beast.

Gheildoa are bipedal beings and are indeed similar to the Humans in terms of height and basic body structure. From the waist on up they have the appearance of a human, but that is where the resemblances come to an end. The legs of the Gheildoa are a strange mixture of man and animal, quite similar to that of a goat, and the feet always being hoofed. Their flesh is thick and leathery, having a pigmentation that could range from a dark blue or purple to even a brilliant green. Never will you see a Gheildoa with brown, black, white, or red skin. Absolutely no hair grows upon their bodies.

The pupils of the Gheildoa’s eyes are elongated, almost being reptilian. The coloration of their eyes is always a darker color. Black, red, hazel, dark blue, and purple is the most common of eye colors. On each individual, a horn or a pair of horns can be seen jutting out from their chin that grow to about five or seven inches in length. Just above where the eyebrows would normally be, a pair of horns that only come to be around two inches in length grow. Their ears are large and wide, becoming only slightly narrower upon coming to the semi-rounded tips of the ears.

Thick, slightly curved, and pointed nails grow upon the end of each digit of their three fingers and thumb. Though thick, the nails are somewhat brittle, making them relatively useless as weapons. From their shoulders a jagged and bony material protrudes that can grow out to be from one inch to nearly four inches long.

The birthrates of the Gheildoa are considered to be quite high, a female being able to conceive from one to four children at a time. Gheildoa children are born without any horns. A child is considered to be an adult around the age of thirteen, when the first of their horns grows in. Their lifespan is similar to that of a human, and so most Gheildoa only live to be around eighty or a hundred years old.

Being omnivorous creatures, the Gheildoa are able to eat vegetation or meats. Even though they are able to eat either or, they do tend to enjoy the taste of meat far more. Should they be given the choice, they will take meat over fruits or vegetables any day. Their most favored type of meat is from the Haldyuki, a beast that is uncommon and only seen in Israidius.

When the devastating event known as the Corruption occurred in the world of Israidius, the Gheildoa suffered heavy losses. During their time of need, the Emperor of the Valdharian Empire, Jeremas, came to them and offered them a stable home within the Sanctuary. With the help of the Valdharian Emperor, the species was able to survive and rose greatly in numbers once more. Because of the kindness shown to them, nearly all of the Gheildoa had pledged their allegiance to Jeremas and as well as to the latest Valdharian Emperor, Gornaz. The Gheildoa alone make up nearly twenty-four percent of the current demonic army.
