Humans- HutarWritten by Kana Hutar - The term "Hutar" has two meanings, the Hutar as a race and the Hutar as a group. Hutar as a group travel place to place in caravan's and they’ll add anyone they meet to their 'family' (such as orphans, runaways etc.). As a result the Hutar has become diverse with many races in it. The Hutar as a RaceThe Hutar as a race are very pale skinned , usually with very dark hair (midnight blue , midnight black , midnight purple, hunter green , maroon) and very brightly colored eye's ( silver , light blue , ice purple , light green, pink). The extremely pale skin can sometimes get them mistaken for vampires by those who are unfamiliar with their race, especially since most Hutar prefer to travel by night. The Hutar race have very slender builds, you won't usually find a Hutar male that's extremely muscular, and can be anywhere from 5 feet to 6’ 7” feet tall. It’s because they aren’t very strong that they rely on speed, stealth and wit to keep them out of trouble, and prefer weapons such as the rod, spears, daggers and small knives they hide on their person. The Hutar also have a decent hand with illusion magic. They don't wear heavy armor, maybe some light padding on the arms and legs at most. Their day to day wear goes as follows; Men wear loose pants with beads hanging from the bottom of their pants, sashes around their waists , belts , belts with coins hanging from them, shirtless with vests , tight fitting sleeveless shirts with long gloves under gauntlets, no shoes, boots, think gypsy crossed with bandit with a dash of noblemen. Women wear belly shits, long skirts with slits, shot skirts with boots, sashes around the neck, gloves, coin belts etc. Both men and women wear lots of jewelry, bangle's , heavy gold hoop earrings (men wear small hoops women wear overly large one's), and the outfit is not complete without some kind of dangling beads or coin accessory. Both men and women wear circlets, though a woman’s is usually far more decadent than a man’s. Men wear simple gold bands, whereas a woman’s is often constructed of wire and beads. The clothes are always colorful with blue's blacks, violets, etc, but you will never catch a Hutar with light colors on as their primary color. They wear darker, richer colors to make up for their pale skin and eye's. On average Hutar live to be about 100 years of age. Hutars are restricted to certain character classes, those being under the Basic, Strategists and Performers sections. The Hutar as a GroupThe Hutar, although combat ready, don't really fight unless need be and try to avoid killing things if possible. Although they are very like gypsies in dress and the facts that they love merry-making, travel all the time and steal every now and then they do have a strict set of moral codes. They do not steal from those who don’t have much for themselves in the first place or from people who have already had some great misfortune come upon them. They help other travelers in need if they can. They never, ever leave one of their own behind because the Hutar is, in their eyes, family. They are fiercely loyal and to betray one of your own is a most grievous offense in their law system. The Hutar delight in story telling, music and dance and so bards are always welcome in their midst. As they travel from town to town they trade things they've ‘acquired’ and they are tough to beat out of a good deal. They also have something of their own language but really only certain words and phrases that and are mixed with common tongue. They also have an accent that might remind someone of chimes (outsiders who are accepted into the Hutar pick up on the language on their own eventually) The Hutar, forever on the move, follow their own law and system of government. People are divided into different jobs. There's the council and Ku-lesemen (literally translated that means 'First father' but it truly means ‘Leader’. If a woman in charge it becomes Ku-Primahla for 'first mother') who makes important decisions and judge cases, warriors who are in charge of everyone's safety, scouts who search out good targets for... ‘business’ and sometimes food when stores get low. There are Messenger’s who are skilled survivalists that take important message's from one Hutar clan to another and ride ahead of the camp to inform towns of their coming (Not all people are welcoming to Hutar after all). There are trader's (one from each family) who perform trade deals, craftsmen who repair things that break on journeys and home-maker's who watch children and teach them things while their parent's are busy with their duties (these are usually the elderly). No one is above anyone else in the Hutar, except for the Ku-lesemen and he/she isn't exactly put up on a pedestal either. All Hutar are required to be able to defend themselves to a certain extent, as well as be able to care for themselves if they are ever separated from the group. Each band of Hutar can have anywhere from fifty to one-hundred-fifty people in it and there are about eleven bands of them roaming the world. Only about forty-two percent of the populations in these bands are actually Hutar, though. Out of the eleven bands of Hutar only four travel by day. |
