Lesurian

A race of animal-like humanoids, the Lesurians are a generally calm and thoughtful race that resides in the western section of the Israidian Sanctuary. These beings are relatively uncommon due to massive losses during the Corruption. Today, the majority of the survivors live with the remaining Evidae and Fey populations.

Lesurians stand at about four to five feet in height, typically slender and abnormally flexible. Males tend to be bulkier than females, but they all have wiry muscled bodies, and it is uncommon to see one of hulking size. They have five digits on their hands, which tend to be small. All Lesurians have opposable thumbs on their feet and they can grasp objects easily. Because of this they dislike wearing anything that covers their feet. Both their hands and feet have a curved nail at the ends, typically black in coloration. All of these beings have long bushy tails.

The Lesurian body is covered in a soft, thick fur that is colored differently depending upon the Lesurian’s family line and clan. When the clans began intermixing after the Corruption, a variety of colorations began to appear. The most common are grayish or brown colored coats with black or white fur around the hands, tail, feet and face. Others may have a reddish or tan-colored coat with black or white markings. Some have a ‘ring’ tail, where the tail is striped black and white along its length.

Their eyes are large and round, and they have above average night vision. Eye shades range in hue from red to orange, gold to brown, and gray to silver. All have dark skin around the eyes, making them appear outlined, and can be especially noticeable if their fur color is light.

Their facial shape is round and their mouths and noses form a delicate point. Their noses are soft and animal-like, and quite sensitive to smells. They have small, blunt teeth that allow them to consume leaves, stems, and fruits, although they can eat fish, small reptiles, and birds. Located on the top of their head, their ears are rounded and can be large or small.

The Lesurians have special, plume-like hairs that grow on the top of their heads. It’s thin in comparison to their more thickly furred bodies. Still, this hair often matches their coats in coloration; either the overall shade or the accent colors. Males also have a tuft of hair that grows at the end of their chin.

Socially, the Lesurians are a peaceful race, generally calm and thoughtful. But since the Corruption and the War of Daishevar, they have been known to assist the Israidian army. Even though they are not large or powerful, they make up for that with their flexibility, sense of smell, and above average night vision. This makes them great for ethereal, magi, naturist or strategist classes.

Within their society, the males are typically the figureheads, and will hold authority over the group as a whole. However, a single male doesn’t run the entire clan. Instead, a group of males maintains control. Females can aspire to be any class they wish, but their society does have strict rules governing their occupations. Women who bear children cannot leave the safety of their homeland until their children have reached fifteen years of age. It is considered a great offense for a female to abandon her children. Since the Corruption their reproductive rates have dropped dramatically, which is why their numbers are still relatively small.

The average Lesurian lives to be 125 years of age.
