Rules & Restrictions

In order to make the game enjoyable for all to play, let alone functional, we need a set of rules, and so we created our Code of Conduct, or our CoC. Yes, the list is long, and we do add new rules and regulations when the need arises, but in order for us to keep the game fun and running smooth for all involved there have to be guidelines. So read on fellow RPG'er, yet if you can't handle these rules we wish you luck in finding the game that suits your needs!

  1. No God moding. Don't know what God Moding is, at least in our reference? Then read this: God Moding Syndrome. It will tell you our definition of God Moding, the types of God Moding and what to avoid with your characters.

  2. Taking over someone else's character or killing their character without their permission is forbidden. The only time this is waved is if the character's player has broken the rules and the GM's feel there is no alternative but to eliminate said character. This has never actually happened in all our years of play, but we hold the rights to do so if necessary.

  3. You have the right to make up your own character(s) and their personal information, BUT we must approve all character applications first, and take liberties at helping adjust character applications to better suit the game. Current members still have to submit a character for approval before they are allowed to post with them.

  4. We do not accept cardboard character copies, especially name wise. This means no characters from a movie, game, anime, TV series, etc. You can have your character look similar to a character/person, maybe have a somewhat similar background, if you wish, but try to keep your characters original in all respects, 100% your imagination and no one else's. We highly frown on plagiarism, just don't do it. This is not a game for your fandom either, find another place for it.

  5. NO, and we repeat, NO constant rewriting of your character(s) history. Leave details out of the storyline if you must, but don't change things once their histories have been revealed. All character histories have to be complete in the character form, from birth to present for GM knowledge.

  6. This is a demanding RPG, we post and we post often. There is a post requirement, and that is each player is required to post at least once a week. Which character or thread does not matter, only that you post once in one weeks time with your character(s). Joint posts (JP's) do NOT count in this agreement, and are considered bonus material. Weekly individual postings are required to keep track of who posts and also monitor members participation in the group as a whole, not with just another person. This rule has been and will be enforced. We go by a warning list. Each Sunday we look at the prior week (Sunday-Saturday group time) to see who posted, and those who had no reasons for not posting will be placed on the 'Warning List', and will remain on the list until they provide a reasonable explanation for not posting, or complete their two months probation. If a player fulfills their posting requirements for two consecutive months then they will have all warning removed from the list and have a clean slate. If you receive a total of three warnings you will be removed from the group. We are flexible with the players if they have problems or are going on vacation, all we ask is you let us know. Not posting without a good reason does not sit well with us, or the members you have made wait. Getting angry and defensive at us just for doing our job will not sit well with us either. A simple explanation is all that is required, and likely we'll take you off the list. This is not a lot to ask, an hour or less of your time once a week and the curtesy to tell us when you can't participate. If you cannot handle this posting requirement then do not bother applying, plain and simple.

  7. New members are not allowed to create new characters until their two month probation period has ended, or unless we otherwise say. Once they've been in the group for two months they can then make more characters. All players may only have four characters total, unless we otherwise deem it. This is to prevent one player over populating plots and then quitting the game, leaving the entire adventure(s) their characters were part of in shambles. It also makes it so people grow in the game and flesh out their current characters, so that they seem real and unique.

  8. All players are welcome to create player events and campaigns. Any campaign or event has to be checked over by the GM's before introduction to the game. This way there won't be any conflicts with current or planned events/campaigns.

  9. No Guns. No Cannons. No Gun Powder. Never. Don't even ask. This is not an element we want in our game, for we feel it would ruin it. If that is what you want then have fun in your hunt for gun wielding fantasy games! :)

  10. Characters are not allowed to open any form of teleportation portals, to anywhere in the game world, without express permission from Tirus. This has been and always will be a big no in the GM book. Before this aspect was common knowledge, but now it is a rule. Don't portal in the game with your characters, magically, accidentally, etc, at all, period. Doing so puts you in a very bad position, for you will have to face the wrath of Tirus as he punts your butt out of the group for being an idiot.

  11. We would prefer if our members had a chat program, MSN in particular, as a secondary form of communication, but it is not necessary. If you do have a messenger then feel free to chat with other members of the RPG to discuss storyline plots and planning. Be sure to add your contact info to the group's database.

  12. Joint posting, meaning a collaborated post with one or more players via email or chat, is acceptable and encouraged. Remember, however, that they do not count as a post towards your weekly requirement.

  13. You must read the History section and the rules (oh! your reading the rules now, very good! ^_^) before you begin to play. This is IMPORTANT. Knowledge is power here and those who know the game's storyline and do their homework will find transition into the game much easier.

  14. If for any reason a player quits the rpg we expect them to give their characters a suiting exit. It is not our job to have to set up a disappearance or demise for a character, and if we have to we may not be nice about it, especially if the circumstances the player left the RPG were unfavorable. So if you cannot play the game anymore please exit your characters and wrap up current plots before you unsubscribe. If a player leaves without doing so then their characters still belong to the DWRPG via our submission agreement and are either placed up for adoption to other players or very horribly killed off, and your chances of returning to the RPG later are slim to none.

  15. Rude behavior or harassment toward any player, GM or the group is not acceptable. This will result in instant removal from the game. If you have a problem with this, contact Tirus or Astral Deva immediately. We don't expect everyone to get along at all times, but be civil.

  16. This RPG is rated R for its content, which includes violence, language and adult situations. You must be 17+ to join. Don't join if you don't like this kind of rating. It is NOT, however, a hentai or porn RPG. Adult related content is present in game but should be written in good taste and not explicitly, to comply with our "R" rating. Any and all sexual posts should contain an -Adult Warning- in the title.

  17. The GM's retain the right to control the RPG's progress and content, and to add new content and edit existing content. They also retain the right to ban any members not following the Code of Conduct. They retain the right to add new rules to the game if the need arises, to change rules and edit the Player Disclosure Digital Signature Agreement as seen fit, to protect the game's health and interests. Any player, from past to present, agrees to these terms if they've ever submitted a character bio or materials to the Dark World RPG. Also refer to our Terms of Use document for more on the GM's disclosure agreement.

  18. Any and all character/s, races, writings and materials submitted to the Dark World RPG become property of the Dark World RPG and its owners. This information can be used as the GM's see fit at any time; during play, on the websites, in fan art and any game related material, even if the player who wrote it leaves, is dismissed or banned from the group. However, these materials will not be used outside of the Dark World RPG. All writings on the website and in the forums are property of the Dark World RPG. No part of this work may be reproduced in part or whole, in any form or by any means, without permission from the owners. For in depth detailing of this agreement, read our FAQ section.

  19. Last and certainly not least, have fun! This game was made for entertainment, so lets keep it that way.
